There are books you read, and then there are books that read you. This is the latter. Dr Marijana P. Donati has a rare gift – she can hold a mirror up to your most ingrained habits and make you feel not shame, but curiosity. She gently dismantles the idea that our childhood patterns are permanent sentences. Instead, she reframes them as starting points â malleable, workable, and ultimately within our power to transform. The testimonies woven throughout the book are not decorative; they are proof. Real people, real struggles, real breakthroughs. And the science isn’t just cited – it’s explained in a way that makes you feel genuinely educated, not overwhelmed. I finished this book with pages of notes, a completely restructured grocery list, and – for the first time in years – a sense of optimism about my own body. It’s never too late. She means it. And after reading this, so will you.
Thank you so much for this book, it was so revealing and helpful.
For a long time I have recognized how dietary choices directly impact our health and so have tried to make educated decisions about what food I eat. Despite that Dr. Donati’s book served as a revelation as it highlighted how often consumer options are compromised by misleading claims of food manufacturers. After reading this book I feel I have gained more up-to-date information as well as the tools to choose more wisely what I consume.
Thank you so much Jelena, for this thoughtful reflection.
Many conscious people already try to make educated food choices – but the problem is that the system often makes those choices unnecessarily difficult through misleading claims, hidden ingredients, and carefully designed marketing language.
Awareness changes everything.
Once we begin to see what stands behind the label, we no longer choose blindly. We choose with clarity, self-respect, and responsibility for our own health.
I am deeply grateful that the book gave you not only new information, but also practical tools to choose more wisely.
Sitting on the balcony of my hotel room in Cyprus reading this impresssive book, writen by Dr. Marijana Donati, a good friend of mine who lives in Italy (originally from the former Yugoslavia and funny, my brother’s ex-girlfriend đđş). A truly powerful, intelligent, educated, elegant and beautiful lady, she holds a PhD in greenwashing, a powerful marketing tactic that uses labels like “natural”, “sugar-free”, to mislead consumers.
This book is for anyone who wants to make informed choices and deeply understand what processed food and sugar do to our body. If you are not ready for changes, this book may not be for you. But for me, it is an eye opener how slowly we can impact our well being by making different choices.
This lady is over 50 years old, never took a pill, plays tennis tournaments and climbs moutain peaks even now. She’s been through so much, raising her daughter through the war as a single mom, working as a chief economist, now living a happy life with her husband, focusing on better choices for her family, to live a healthy, thriving life. So proud to call her my friend. She is such a great role model inspiring me to rethink my habits. Hope she can inspire some of you as well, through this amazing book đđâ¤ď¸
Sasha, this touched me deeply – thank you. â¤ď¸
Reading my book on a balcony in Cyprus feels like the perfect symbol of what I hope it gives people: a pause⌠a clearer lens⌠and the courage to choose differently, one small decision at a time.
You said it beautifully: this is not about perfection – itâs about waking up gently, and realising how much power we actually have over our wellbeing.
Iâm grateful for your words, your friendship, and for being willing to let this book be an âeye-openerâ – and then turn that awareness into action.
An innovative approach to the relationship with food. Not only is there a holistic approach, but also an underlying pragmatism, with concrete information about sugars and the dangers of ultra-processed foods. The warnings about greenwashing and deceptive marketing techniques are also helpful. I applaud your innovative approach to this topic.
Thank you Maurizio – Iâm truly grateful for this.
Iâm glad you felt both sides of what I wanted the book to be: holistic in vision, but pragmatic in execution. Because awareness alone isnât enough â we need concrete tools to navigate sugars, ultra-processed foods, and the marketing language designed to keep us on autopilot.
And yes: exposing greenwashing and deceptive âhealth haloâ techniques matters, because clarity is the beginning of self-mastery.
Thank you for reading so attentively â and for taking the time to share this.
This book is a refreshing, insightful, and impactful contribution to the literature on healthy eating and living.
What sets it apart is the unique blend of perspectives the author brings: their professional background as a macroeconomist, her personal experiences as a consumer, and the dynamic energy that permeates every page. These elements combine to create a narrative that is not only informative but also genuinely engaging and deeply inspiring.
“It is never late for a healthy childhood” completely changed the way I think about health and the choices I make every day. This book is an eye-opener, revealing the hidden dangers of processed foods, sugar addiction, and misleading marketing practices that I never thought twice about before. What I loved most is how practical and empowering it is. The author doesnât just talk about the problemsâweâre given actual, actionable steps to break free from unhealthy habits and make better choices for ourselves and the planet. From learning how to spot hidden sugars to understanding the impact of greenwashing, this book gave me the tools to take control of my life. Each chapter inspired me to think differently about eating, shopping, and living. Itâs not just about healthâitâs about embracing a more balanced, sustainable, and intentional way of living. I took notes, reflected on my habits, and felt motivated to make positive changes.
If youâre looking for a book that will educate, inspire, and truly transform your approach to wellness, this is it. Itâs one of those rare books that sticks with you and makes you want to share it with everyone you care aboutâhighly recommended!
âWith this book, Dr Marijana P. Donati is being generous with sharing her story of building a conscious and healthy lifestyle and the learnings made on the way. If your goal is to become more conscious of the consequences of your decisions on your body, mind and your environment, this book will definitely be worth your time.â
This insightful book masterfully blends personal anecdotes with educational content on greenwashing, offering readers a profound understanding of both the personal and societal aspects of the well-being journey.
Enjoyed this intelligent, witty and very personal story of the author’s journey to health, inspiring us to improve our own lives for better. eye opening for me in respect to greenwashing. human and powerful.
